No matter which funeral service you choose it is our priority to bring your relative in to our chapel of rest facilities as soon as possible. We do not delay collection from anywhere in the country.

We have the latest mortuary facilities upgraded in November 2020 which include air purification to remove any airborne traces of COVID 19 and other similar viruses. This air purification system is also installed in the chapels of rest at Rushden

 

All funerals can be paid for with cash, cheque, credit/debit cards or Bank Transfer

 

"Traditional Funeral Service" from £3630.00*

(+ third party costs for burial or cremation see below)

 

This includes collection of the deceased 24 hours a day to our chapels of rest (distance up to 25 miles), traditional Oak veneered "York" coffin and 6 handles, hearse, funeral conductor and four pall bearers, home visit to make funeral arrangements (if preferred), chapel of rest visits Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. & Saturday 10.00 to 12.00 noon (extended hours as a option), supply of funeral gown or dressing in own clothes, collection of funeral charitable donations and our full 24 hour personal support.

We will ensure you have a suitable appointment with the local registrar of deaths or help you understand what to do if the coroner needs to be involved.

You will have full control of the day and time of the funeral (subject to availability) ~ you tell us what is best for you.

If you would like an alternative coffin we have many choices with a variety of cost. For example our Norwich (panelled veneered coffin in oak is £675.00 and a bespoke solid oak coffin £1400.00). There are many other coffin types in between these costs.

If you call us 24 hours a day you will get an experienced funeral director to offer immediate guidance from our team in Rushden, usually Jonathan or Michael is available to you. No question asked is silly to us, we want you to be in control of the arrangements and have funeral choices explained clearly.

In addition to our costs you will have some third party expenses. They may include the cost of a church (£450.00) or minister £248.00 or civil celebrant £2628.00, council fees for a grave purchase and cost of digging (£800.00 ~ Rushden Cemetery) etc. or indeed crematorium costs which do vary considerably. Wellingborough Crematorium charges £1075.00. Also fee £250 for a service at a separate location.

We will ensure that these costs are paid to the correct authorities.

We will also help you choose the local crematorium that offers the best services for you and costs at that time.

We can provide you with a written list of the proposed full costs for a funeral at any time and we will always give you clear options when arranging a funeral.

Remember with the traditional funeral service you do not need to find any money up front, we will simply raise an invoice after carrying out your wishes.

 

How to reduce costs 

 

 

FIXED PRICE "Simple Cremation Funeral" package £2600.00*^

Wellingborough Cremation (example)

(+ expected third party costs £1323.00 Total £3923.00)

 

This would include all our professional fees for the care of your relative, staffing, coffin bearers and premises : chapel of rest (office hours Mon - Fri ~ 9.00 a.m. - 4.45 p.m. only) : typically veneered coffin and 6 handles : hearse : collection of deceased within a 25 mile radius of Rushden (within office hours) a greater distance or if out of hours may attract additional expense : minister fees up to £248.00:(funeral celebrant £262.00) : crematorium fees £1075.00

(A. Abbott & Sons reserve the right to choose the day and time of funeral (usually 9.00 a.m. / 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. / 5.00 p.m.) and the crematorium used ~ and all subject to availability)

This plan is designed to assist families with keeping costs down whilst providing a personal, dignified funeral service.

The hearse will travel directly to the crematorium and meet you there.

Other services can be added to the "Simple" arrangement could include:-

Dressing in own clothes £75.00

Collection & processing of charitable donations £75.00

Add a limousine & cortege from your specified address £300.00

Deposit of 50% is due at time of making arrangements.

Cremated remains can be returned to you.

You can also use this option if you are making a DWP funeral support claim. Please just ask for details ~ we are here to help.

We will always provide you with a full estimate and explanation of expenses at our first meeting to ensure that you keep control of the potential costs. We don't want you to have any surprise after the funeral.

 

FIXED PRICE "Simple Burial Funeral" package £2600.00*^

Rushden Cemetery (example)

(+ expected third party costs £1048.00 for grave purchase & interment, minister fees Total £3648.00

 

This would include all our professional fees for the care of your relative, staffing, coffin bearers and premises : chapel of rest (office hours Mon ~ Fri 9.00 a.m. - 4.45 p.m. only) : typically veneered coffin and 6 handles : hearse : collection of deceased within a 25 mile radius of Rushden (within office hours) a great distance or if out of hours may attract additional expense : minister fees up to £248.00 (celebrant fee £262.00) : Rushden Cemetery fees for purchase & interment for a resident of Rushden £800.00.

This plan is designed to assist families with keeping costs down whilst providing a personal, dignified funeral service.

The hearse will travel directly to the graveside and meet you there.

Other additional services can be added to the "Simple" arrangement could include:-

Wooden grave marker £84.00

Dressing in own clothes £75.00

Collection & processing charitable donations £75.00

Add limousine and cortege from your specified address £300.00

Deposit of 50% is due at time of making arrangements.

You can also use this option if you are making a DWP funeral support claim. Please just ask for details ~ we are here to help.

 

FIXED PRICE "Direct Cremation" package £1500.00*^

(+ expected third party costs doctors fees and crematorium costs only Total £2083.00

 

This would include all our professional fees for the care of your relative, staffing, premises : simplest coffin (board finish) : suitable vehicle to transport coffin directly to the crematorium (not the hearse) : collection of deceased with 25 mile radius of Rushden within office hours (a greater distance and/or if out of hours will attract additional expense) : cremation fee £583.00

With this option there is limited chapel of rest facility at all : strictly no one to attend the crematorium : strictly no service at the crematorium : no cortege facilities. The coffin will be taken from our premises directly to the crematorium on the day and time that we choose. We also reserve the right to choose the crematorium used.

This plan is designed to assist families with keeping costs down, that wish personal support in the arrangements, but do not wish to attend a funeral service.

Full payment for this option is due at the time of making the arrangements.

Cremated remains can be returned to you

Deceased stays at our Rushden Funeral Home whilst paperwork is completed and not left at a hospital mortuary

Chapel of Rest visit allowed

Cremation day confirmed with family (no uncertainty of what is happening or where deceased is)

 

 

FIXED PRICE "Direct Burial" package £1638.00*^

(+ expected third party cost of £800.00 [example at Rushden Cemetery for a resident] Total £2438.00

 

This would include all our professional fees for care of your relative, staffing, premises : simplest coffin (board finish) : suitable vehicle to transport coffin directly to the cemetery [example is Rushden Cemetery only] (not the hearse) : collection of deceased with a 25 mile radius of Rushden within office hours (a greater distance and-or if out of hours will attract additional expense) : cemetery fee £800.00 [example Rushden Cemetery for a resident including purchase and interment fees - other cemeteries or churchyard fees will differ]

 

With this option there is limited chapel of rest facility at all : strictly no one to attend the cemetery : strictly no service at the graveside : no cortege facilities. The coffin will be taken from our premises directly to the cemetery on the day and time we choose.

This plan is designed to assist families with keeping costs down, that wish personal support in the arrangements, but do not wish to attend a funeral service, nor have chapel of rest facilities.

 

Full payment for this option is due at the time of making the arrangements.

 

There is an option to add a wooden grave marker at a cost of £84.00

 

We reserve the right to amend any details of these arrangements and costs from time to time without prior notice.
